Welcome to our website
Our Charity
I am asking you to help children and families in the Third World.
How? By donating one penny - yes, just 1p a day.
Friends and family have been sending small amounts of cash to needy families and children since 1994. This support needs to be strengthened and a charity has been formed to answer this need.
Our scheme is unique in that:
- We support people and organisations who are personally known.
- The funds go directly to the families and organisations.
- There is no bureaucracy or "officialdom" involved.
Our link is via church ministers and schoolteachers who operate in the community and who are known to us. This scheme gets as near to one to one giving as is possible with funds going directly to beneficiaries.
The economy in parts of Central and East Africa is at a standstill. Jobs are very difficult, if not impossible, to get. The poor are even more disadvantaged in these difficult times and many are living in absolute poverty. This is defined when an individual has to live on one US dollar or less a day - approximately 60p.
Your contribution adds up to real help. Small amounts but on a regular basis bring relief to those who are often forgotten and marginalised. School fees, uniforms, medical treatment all have to be paid for. Recipients would benefit greatly if they received our contribution on a regular basis. People get a greater sense of security with the knowledge that funds will be coming in regularly.
You can help by making a once a year payment of £3.65. Direct Debit is the simplest way to make your 1p a day payment. Some generous people are making £1 a month donations. It can be left in place for annual payment and makes life easy for the treasurer.
Please make this commitment of a penny a day. Our wish is to try and restore the link between the person giving and the person receiving. A lot more can be achieved with your contribution. As with all charities, there are trustees and a voluntary committee to oversee this work. You will also get a once a year fact sheet giving details of the work.
Please support us with your gift of a penny a day or a pound a month.
